DP4 combines a short-travel micrometer stage with a longer lead-screw rail for macro photography. Use the lower rail to establish the shooting distance, then make smaller focus-stacking steps with the upper stage.
Upper micrometer stage
The upper stage provides 25 mm of travel. Its centrally positioned micrometer advances 0.5 mm per revolution, with 0.01 mm of travel per scale division. Two revolutions produce 1 mm of movement. Scale divisions are a reference for manual positioning, not measured positioning accuracy.
Lower positioning rail
The lower stage provides 120 mm of travel through a trapezoidal lead screw with a 4 mm lead. The dual-diameter knurled control offers two grip diameters on the same drive; it does not change the mechanical transmission ratio.
Construction and mounting
The main body is aluminium alloy, with stainless-steel and copper drive components. The upper Arca-compatible clamp can be removed and reinstalled at 90°, secured by four M4 stainless-steel screws. The lower Arca-style interface connects to compatible tripod heads, and three 1/4-20 threaded holes provide additional base mounting positions.
