The LS18R combines screw-driven linear movement with a graduated panning clamp for independent adjustment of camera position and direction. Move the camera along the rail to refine shooting distance, then turn the upper platform to adjust its direction.
Controlled movement for macro focus stacking
At close distances, depth of field is limited. Move the camera in steps to capture different areas in focus, then combine the images in post-processing for greater depth of field. The LS18R advances 4 mm per revolution, with 100 dial divisions providing 0.04 mm of travel per division. Choose the step size to suit magnification and depth of field, allowing the sharp regions to overlap between frames.
Rapid movement and fine control
Unfold the crank to reposition the camera quickly, then turn the knurled rim for fine adjustment. When folded away, the crank preserves the dial’s complete outer profile and uninterrupted knurled grip.
Separate locks for rotation and travel
The upper platform has an angular scale and a 350° rotation range. An optional configuration provides continuous 360° rotation. Release the rotation-lock knob, positioned diagonally at 45°, turn the platform by hand, then tighten it to hold the direction without removing the clamp. A separate lever locks linear travel. It may remain released during horizontal use; for vertical use, lock after positioning and release before moving again.
Mounting
The upper Arca-type clamp accepts compatible camera or lens plates. The Arca-type base slides within a compatible clamp to balance the setup, with a 1/4-inch thread offering another mounting option. A quick-release plate is included.
